KBR senior litigation counsel Alyssa Schiffhauer obtained summary judgment warranting full dismissal of plaintiff’s complaint in a long-term care matter in Nassau County.
The case centered on a then 90 year-old resident’s fall which was alleged to have caused a broken wrist and hip, requiring surgical intervention. The trial involved claims of a dislodged PEG, improper interventions to prevent skin breakdown, and Public Health Law violations that plaintiff claimed resulted in dehydration, malnutrition, vascular ulcers, pressure ulcers, and wrongful death. The jury returned its verdict in favor of the defense in less than an hour. Great work, Kathryn!
