Matt is a partner who represents international and domestic insurers in complex coverage litigation and arbitration, particularly in the areas of Directors and Officers Liability, Financial Institutions Liability (including banking, private equity, investment advisers and other alternative asset managers), Fintech, Professional Liability, and Employment Practices and Wage & Hour Liability.  

Matt serves as coverage and monitoring counsel for primary and excess insurers in connection with a wide range of underlying claims, including litigation against financial institutions, governmental/regulatory investigations, shareholder litigation and claims involving professional services. In addition, Matt represents insurers in alternative dispute resolution proceedings across the country to negotiate the resolution of coverage disputes and underlying claims. 

Matt also defends individuals and companies in complex commercial litigation, including breach of fiduciary duty claims and putative consumer class action demands and lawsuits involving alleged violations of the Telephone Consumer Protection Act (TCPA), false advertising and unfair trade practices related to food and beverage labeling, and “Made in USA” marketing claims under both federal and state law.  In addition to his courtroom experience, Matt also counsels companies on litigation avoidance strategies and pre-litigation negotiation of disputes.

Matt regularly lectures on “hot topics,” trends, and recent developments in the various fields in which he practices. Prior to joining the firm, Matt served as a law clerk for the Staff Attorney’s Office at the United States Court of Appeals for the Second Circuit. He served as an articles editor on the Tulane Law Review.
