Claire E. Ryan is a partner whose practice focuses primarily on Employment Practices Litigation. Claire defends employers against allegations of wrongdoing including claims of sexual harassment, failure to hire and/or promote, wrongful termination, discrimination on the basis of sex, pregnancy, age, race, color, national origin, religion, disability, perceived disability, sexual orientation and religion, retaliation, FMLA interference and retaliation, housing discrimination, worker’s compensation retaliation, as well as breach of contract, and various torts, including negligent supervision, intentional infliction of emotional distress, negligent infliction of emotional distress, negligent misrepresentation, tortious interference with contract, and tortious interference with business relations.
Claire has represented employers before the Connecticut Commission on Human Rights and Opportunities, the Equal Employment Opportunity Commission, and other administrative agencies, as well as in Connecticut and New York state and federal courts. Claire has represented a wide variety of clients including municipalities, school boards, health care providers, long term care facilities, non-profits, employment staffing agencies and closely held family businesses.
In addition to defending clients in litigation, Claire counsels clients on a broad array of employment matters, including employment agreements, independent contractor, non-competition and non-solicitation agreements, severance agreements, terminations and employment policies and procedures.
Claire also has significant experience representing attorneys in legal malpractice actions, as well as clients in general commercial litigation.
