Matt is a partner in our Insurance Coverage and Coverage Litigation Group. He represents liability insurers in complex coverage litigation before federal and state courts nationwide. Matt also serves as coverage and monitoring counsel for primary and excess insurers in a wide range of matters, including in connection with claims and exposures under professional liability, directors and officers liability, employment practices liability, and fiduciary liability insurance policies. He has extensive experience counseling insurers on coverage issues and all aspects of underlying claims, including shareholder litigation, investigations by governmental agencies, claims involving professional services, litigation against financial institutions and pharmaceutical companies, and other types of complex commercial lawsuits. In addition, Matt represents insurers in negotiations to resolve coverage disputes and underlying claims through alternative dispute resolution proceedings across the country.
While in law school, Matt served as a judicial intern for District Judge Sandra J. Feuerstein and Magistrate Judge A. Kathleen Tomlinson of the United States District Court for the Eastern District of New York. In addition, his note, titled “Uncertainty at the Outer Boundaries of the First Amendment: Extending the Arm of School Authority Beyond the Schoolhouse Gate Into Cyberspace”, was published in the Summer 2010 edition of the St. John’s Journal of Legal Commentary.
