Plaintiff alleged multiple departures from the standard of care, including failure to properly evaluate candidacy for a dental implant, inadequate pre-implant imaging and bone grafting, and negligent implant placement. Additional claims centered on the use of an incorrect implant size and failure to diagnose and treat resulting infections. Plaintiff further alleged negligence in connection with efforts to remove a screw that became lodged within the implant during a co-defendant’s restorative efforts, which ultimately required sectioning to allow closure of the mouth and surgical removal of the implant. A replacement implant placed by a subsequent provider also failed, which Plaintiff attempted to attribute to the alleged failures related to the original treatment.
KBR successfully demonstrated that the care and treatment at issue met the applicable standard and did not proximately cause Plaintiff’s alleged injuries. The Court dismissed all claims.
