Lisa serves as appellate counsel contributing her expertise to our Appellate practice group. She has focused much of her career on civil and criminal appellate practice. Lisa has argued in all four Appellate Division Departments and in the NYS Court of Appeals and the Court of Appeals for the Second Circuit. Furthermore, she prevailed in arguing four issues of first impression, one in the NYS Court of Appeals, and three in the Second Circuit.
Lisa started her legal career as an appeals prosecutor with the Bronx District Attorney’s Office. She spent several years in private practice litigating medical malpractice appeals and as a trial-level and appellate attorney handling municipal liability, civil rights, and employment discrimination matters. Lisa returned to public service as an Assistant Attorney General during the Spitzer administration and remained in that office through the James administration. She defended NYS law enforcement agencies and employees in civil actions at the trial level. As a member of the Appeals & Opinions division, she handled direct appeals from Attorney General-obtained convictions and federal habeas corpus matters and appeals.
While at the Attorney General’s office, Lisa taught legal writing and civil document drafting as an adjunct instructor at New York Law School for 14 years.
