The case focused on alleged failures to appreciate, diagnose, and act upon a hiatal hernia, weight loss, deep vein thrombosis, and infection. Rebecca argued that based on expert opinion, medical records, and testimony, the standard of care was met and the alleged departures were not a proximate cause of the alleged injuries. The Court held that the defense met its burden of proof and in opposition, the Plaintiff failed to demonstrate any causal connection between the alleged departures and the patient’s outcome. The motion was granted in its entirety and all claims were dismissed.
