Douglas
FitzMorris, a litigation partner,
is a veteran trial attorney with substantial litigation
experience. Over the past 20 years, Mr. FitzMorris has tried
nearly 100 cases to verdict. He has focused his practice on the
counseling and defense of physicians, hospitals, chiropractors,
dentists and other health care professionals in malpractice
litigation and trials.
Mr.
FitzMorris previously served for 12 years in the Westchester
County District Attorney’s Office, where he served as Deputy
Chief of the Homicide Bureau under District Attorney Jeanine
Pirro, and earlier as Deputy Chief of the Career Criminal Bureau
under District Attorney Carl Vergari. During his tenure, Mr.
FitzMorris successfully tried many noteworthy homicide and other
serious felony cases.
During law
school, Mr. FitzMorris clerked for the Honorable Thomas C. Platt
of the United States District Court for the Eastern District of
New York. He also interned with the Office of the United States
Attorney, Criminal Division, under the Hon. Raymond J. Dearie.
He was a member of both the Brooklyn Law School Moot Court Honor
Society and the Trial Advocacy Team. While attending LeMoyne
undergraduate, Mr. FitzMorris was a pre-med student, earning a
B.S. degree in Biology, with Minors in both Chemistry and
Political Science.
Mr.
FitzMorris has been an invited speaker on various topics at
seminars sponsored by the Federal Bureau of Investigation, the
New York State Inspector General’s Office, and the Yonkers
Police Department. He has also lectured to physicians and
hospital staff on medical-legal matters.
Mr.
FitzMorris also serves currently as Deputy Town Attorney and
Town Prosecutor for the Town of Yorktown in Westchester County.
